An early start to the Spring season, we competed at Exloo with Robert Wilkinsons young team of chestnut horses, it was fantastic they wanted to work with us and performed superbly on the marathon, with some things to improve on, but the overall result was excellent β Exloo was a good opener to the outdoor season, with great facilities and good obstacles, we thoroughly enjoyed competing there. It is always nice when the horses want to work for you, and they offer you their best when they are happy in their job.

Bertus zal eind van deze week naar zijn laatste rustplaats gebracht worden. Iedereen die hem gekend heeft, willen wij hierbij uitnodigen om naar Beekbergen te komen om hem een laatste groet te brengen, maar vooral ook om herinneringen uit te wisselen over deze grootste paardenman.
Afscheid nemen kan op de volgende momenten op Equestrian Centre Riant: - Vrijdag 1 maart tussen 18.00 en 20.00 uur - Zaterdag 2 maart om 13.00 uur is een afscheidsbijeenkomst in de binnenmanege van Riant. Bertus zal daarna per koets in kleine familiekring begeleid worden naar het crematorium. Aansluitend is een informeel samenzijn tot 18.00 uur in de binnenmanege.

His vitality was admirable
Bertus van Tergouw, founder of Equestrian Centre Riant, the international driving competition in Beekbergen and so much more, passed away in the night from Sunday to Monday at the age of 87. A great loss β already β for us as family, friends and the driving sport.
Bertus will be taken to his final resting place at the end of this week. We would like to invite everyone who knew him to come to Beekbergen to pay his last respects, but especially to exchange memories about this greatest horseman.
You can say goodbye at the following times at Equestrian Centre Riant: - Friday 1 March between 18:00 and 20:00 h. - Saturday, March 2 at 13:00 h. is a farewell meeting in the indoor riding school of Riant. Bertus will then be escorted by carriage in a small family circle to the crematorium. This will be followed by an informal get-together until 18:00 h. in the indoor riding school.

Equestrian Queensland (EQ) with Driving Queensland (DrQ) and the Australian Carriage Driving Society (ACDS) hosted a Queensland Driving Clinic with the Number #1 World Champion Boyd Exell from Friday 12 to Sunday 14 January 2024 at RM'S Equestrian Centre in Hodgson Vale near Toowoomba!
A fabulous opportunity to learn from the mega world champion, his attention to detail being second to none!
Most sessions started with perfecting all the fitting of equipment and carriages until every horse was moving forward comfortably and correctly.
With a focus on foundations, rhythm and straightness were key to improving all combinations.
Boyd was so passionate and very hands on, helping to demonstrate the feel and response he was looking for. This was fantastic to watch and just as awesome opportunity for fence sitters as well! It was amazing watching such precision and accuracy. Everything Boyd was explaining and working on improving was easily transferable across to other disciplines. One big one... Fail to prepare, prepare to fail!
Congratulations Bram Team Chardon for the tight competition, I am proud of our team performance, thrilled with our horses performance and very proud of our respectable second place. As ever we are driven to keep striving forward, a special thankyou to our supporters and our sponsors. Now we turn our attention to the outdoor season.

It was a thrilling competition and fantastic entertainment. A question from amateur in Australia here - did I notice one of Boyd's horses (a wheeler) with some sort of rubber mouth covering? I am wondering if he was a bit inclined to nipping the leader in front!
Boyd is amazing always!! Love cheering on his team of horses. It was so close and everyone gave it all. Nice to let someone else win once in a while lol. Looking forward to next season.
